Goldsboro, Maryland - In a town with less than 300 residents, nothing ever changed. You kept the same job practically your whole life, married the neighbor's children and lived happily ever after. Weirdest thing to happen? Maybe someone died at a young age, maybe. Even that was a stretch for the weird in these places. Murders never occurred, police were merely there to make sure visitors didn't get out of hand, and even then, no one ever visited. So when three people die within two days of each other, and one is only 15, things get a little chaotic.
There was no sunshine, not even the promise of a single beam of light. Today was as dark and gloomy as the somber mood throughout the town. Thick clouds layered the sky, their darkness threatening to rain down on the city. People ran this way and that, hurrying to get to their homes before the storm hit. Most of the town was returning from yet another funeral, many of them wondering if they were wrong to be so quick to bury the bodies, without an autopsy. What would the medical examiner really find, anyway? Three different families, none worked around each other, they all died strangely without a scratch on them. The medical examiner was just as baffled as the rest of the town.
A rare thing indeed, for so many deaths in such a small time period. Death had no choice but to take notice, the Natural Order was slipping in this small town. Standing on the sidewalk, cane in hand, Death watched the people of the town as they hurried to their dry destinations. The droplets had begun to fall from the sky, a single drop of water landing on the white stone in Death's ring, forming a layer of water on top. Brown eyes dropped to the ring as Death wiped away the droplet. Though water fell around him, not a single drop seemed to land on the mysterious visitor, who drew so much attention from the local residents. Yes, Death was visible in his tailored business-suit, appearing it would seem, out of nowhere. People tried to stop him, to talk to him, though Death merely walked ahead, eyes scanning the crowds for someone that stood out amongst the rest, threatening the Order.
